Two Simple Ways to Remove Leftover Candle Wax

If you love the look of empty candle jars but hate the mess that leftover wax can leave behind, you’re in the right place. In this video, Adrian from Haus of Flame Candle Co. demonstrates two quick and effective approaches to reclaim every bit of wax without long soaks or hard scrubbing.

The first approach harnesses the power of cold. By placing your candle jar in the freezer for a couple of hours, the wax contracts and becomes brittle. When you take the jar back out, the hardened wax easily detaches from the glass, allowing you to lift or scoop it away in large pieces. This method is perfect when you need a clean jar in a hurry and want to minimize residue.

If you’d rather work with heat, the second approach uses hot water to do the heavy lifting. Simply pour boiling water into the jar, and as the wax melts, it floats to the surface. Once the water cools and the wax solidifies again, you can skim it off effortlessly. This technique is especially handy for jars with narrow openings or intricate shapes, where prying out frozen wax might be tricky.

Both techniques leave your jars completely clear and ready for a second life—whether you’re turning them into succulent planters, makeup-brush holders, or storage for small items around the house. They’re fast, they’re clean, and they help you reduce waste by putting every jar back to good use.
